Cabinscape - Haliburton Forest
Every stay includes a Haliburton Forest Day Pass, giving guests access to an extensive network of trails, lakes, roads, and public swimming areas. Trails range from gentle, flat routes perfect for leisurely outings to more adventurous terrain for those looking to challenge themselves. Guests are welcome to stop by Base Camp for trail maps, local insights, and route recommendations.
Our lake-access cabins—Big Rock, Willow, Kaya, Quasi, Cove, Baylight, Bone, and Penner—are situated near pristine, untouched freshwater lakes. Each comes equipped with a complimentary canoe, paddle boards, and PFDs, inviting guests to paddle across calm waters, discover local wildlife, or simply enjoy the serenity of sunrise and sunset on the lake.
One of Haliburton Forest’s most iconic attractions is the Wolf Centre, a fascinating Grey Wolf Sanctuary where visitors can learn about the resident pack living on a spacious reserve within the protected forest. With indoor observation areas and special events like Public Wolf Howls, it’s a must-see educational experience (advance reservations required).
For a breathtaking perspective of the forest, guests can embark on the world-renowned Haliburton Canopy Tour—an elevated boardwalk stretching over half a kilometre through the treetops, offering incredible views 10–20 metres above the ground. Additional seasonal events, including concerts, a logging museum, and trail-running marathons, add even more variety to your stay.
Beyond the forest, the nearby town of Haliburton offers small-town charm, lakeside scenery, and engaging attractions such as the Haliburton Sculpture Forest and Head Lake Trail. Visitors can enjoy a delicious range of local dining—from fish and chips on a lakeside patio to cozy cafés, Mexican cuisine, classic grills, and even food trucks.
Fishing enthusiasts can take advantage of the abundant bass in Haliburton Forest’s lakes, keeping in mind that provincial Fish and Game Laws still apply.
After a day of exploration, unwind in your tiny, heated cabin—complete with a small library, full cooking facilities, and everything you need for a peaceful retreat. Enjoy comfort food by the stove, campfire, or BBQ, take in the surrounding quiet, and gaze up at the spectacular night sky overhead. Haliburton offers a rejuvenating blend of wilderness adventure and restful solitude, making it an unforgettable destination for nature lovers year-round.
