Art Display at Summer Art Festival

The lush green forests, colourful wild flowers, and sparkling lakes that cover Ontario’s Highlands each summer combine to make sights around almost every corner that are truly picture-perfect. It’s no wonder the rich colours inspire so many paintings, the rolling rivers so many sketches, the textured forests so many carvings, and the shapes of nature so many sculptures.

This is a region that is home to many talented artists, who each year invite visitors to share in the beauty they experience every day: to marvel at twinkling glass in the sunlight; feel the warm curves of smooth pottery; get lost in the depths of painted lakes and forests; and to bring home a piece of artwork to adorn their homes with one small reminder of it. Celebrate creativity under the warm sun at art festivals and events across Ontario’s Highlands this season.

Art in the Garden

When: 9:00a.m.-5:00p.m on June 15-16, 2019
Where: Kiwi Gardens in Perth, ON

Wander meandering pathways that weave through 10 acres of show gardens and be impressed by the incredible talent of showcasing artists. With creative works displayed across the property, you can marvel at the beauty and find the perfect piece to complement and enliven your gardens and outdoor spaces.

Art Works! Perth Studio Tour

When: 2:00p.m.-6:00pm on June 21 & 10:00a.m-4:00p.m on June 22 &23, 2019
Where: Artist Studios in and around Perth, Ontario

Tucked around the town of Perth and the surrounding countryside are artists with diverse styles and mediums who are inspired by this heritage town and rural landscape. Visit their studios and neighbourhoods along the route to connect directly with 21 of these exceptional artists, see where and how their art is made, and uncover the perfect piece for you.

Art on the Dock

When: July 13-14, 2019
Where: Kennisis Lake in Haliburton Highlands, Ontario

Tour the beautiful Kennisis Lake by boat or car to take in both the beauty of cottage country as well as the incredible skills of resident artists and invited guest artists. As you wander the docks, decks, and cottages along the lake, with bold forests and the sparkling lake serving as a backdrop to this ‘studio tour,’ you’ll quickly see why the Haliburton Highlands are a draw for so many talented artists.

Madawaska Valley Studio Tour

When: 10:00a.m.-5:00p.m. on July 19-21 & October 4-6, 2019
Where: Artist Studios in Madawaska Valley & Madawaska Highlands

Take in incredible views as you weave your way around sparkling lakes and through lush green forests to view demonstrations or purchase original creations inspired by the rugged and picturesque landscape of the Madawaska Valley and Highlands. Follow the map and watch for red Maple Leaf Signs marking each studio along the way. If you can’t make it this summer, the tour returns in October and offers the chance to witness the spectacular fiery colours of fall along your way.

Pop Up Art Renfrew County

When: May 2-September 1, 2019
Where: Various locations across Renfrew County (mobile art space)

Marvel at the talent of local artists as you explore this curated exhibition inspired by the extraordinary moments found in the everyday lives of Renfrew County. With this travelling show popping up in locations across Renfrew County all summer, you can discover some of these extraordinary moments yourself as you discover the communities and characters of Renfrew County.
